I walked into the lift; she said good morning to me.
She walked out of the lift; I said you have a good day.
At the end of the day, I walked into the lift and I smiled at him.
When I walked out, I said you have a good evening,
He did not respond at all, but my day was complete.
Being courteous and kind is simply humane, and it can be part of us regardless of how others choose to respond.
It also includes, that if we want our team members to care about work, we need to be the FIRST to care about people.
Today, results mean how your treat people FIRST, and the rest will follow thru.
